Edith Nibakwe is Rwandan journalist who has used her profession to address the challenges faced by women and girls. Believing in the power of media to inspire change, Edith has been a driving force in advocating for gender equality, women’s rights, and social transformation.
The idea for “Women of Impact” was born from Edith’s passion to highlight the achievements of influential women and to inspire young girls and women across Rwanda

Edith’s journey into women’s empowerment began with a simple yet powerful idea: to create a platform that celebrates the achievements of women while addressing the challenges they face. This vision became a reality with the launch of the “Women of Impact” initiative. Through the initiative, Edith aims to elevate the voices of influential women, inspiring young girls and women across Rwanda to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.
Edith hosts successful women from various fields who share their personal stories of resilience, leadership, and success. Through these powerful conversations, young women are encouraged to overcome barriers and aim higher. But Edith's vision goes beyond just the show—Women of Impact also reaches out directly to communities, hosting school visits and conferences to discuss issues like education, self-worth, and gender equality ,teenage pregnancy…
One of the most impactful aspects of the Women of Impact initiative is the Gender Café, a platform designed to tackle some of the most pressing issues facing women in the media industry. Sexual harassment and gender-based violence (GBV) remain significant challenges, especially for female journalists. Through the Gender Café, Edith has created a safe space for open dialogue, where women can share their experiences, support one another, and come up with practical solutions to combat these issues.
As Edith continues her work, Women of Impact Rwanda remains dedicated to supporting young girls and women, inspiring them to achieve their fullest potential, and creating a more inclusive, supportive environment for future generations.
